Urgent ─ email your MP to stop the affordable housing sell off

MPs must hear our voices ─ no selling off social and affordable homes

Reports suggest that the government is considering allowing housing developers to sell off social and affordable rent homes for higher prices to private buyers and investors.

This is outrageous and has never been done before. How can the government let developers sell off social homes rather than making sure they can go to the families who urgently need them?

It was just three weeks ago that new Secretary of State for Housing, Steve Reed, said, ‘in July the Labour government published a five-step plan to deliver the biggest increase in social and affordable housing in a generation, and to transform the safety and quality of social homes’.

This backwards step comes as we near Christmas. A Christmas that will see a shocking 84,240 families homeless ─ living in damaging temporary accommodation. These families need social homes.

The housing emergency is still spiralling. We cannot afford to lose social housing now. We must draw a line in the sand. This is a step in the wrong direction and will not help end the housing emergency.

Please email your MP urgently to make it clear ─ selling off social and affordable homes while 84,240 families are homeless in temporary accommodation is completely unacceptable.
