Invite your MP to our event so they can find out how they can help to end the housing emergency

We recently called on Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, to take action on homelessness. After handing in almost 10,000 messages from our supporters, we still haven’t had a response. 

But we're not giving up. The Spring Budget is an opportunity for the Chancellor to help the tens of thousands   of families in temporary accommodation. And we think your MP can help convince him.

Our new research reveals that hundreds of thousands of people are living in dangerous, slum-like conditions. This includes children. 1 in 3 of whom don’t have their own bed. This is not a home.

Right now, the Chancellor will be writing up his spending plans for the next year. We want to see urgent action to stop homelessness now and end the housing emergency for good. This includes:

• unfreezing housing benefit 
• investing more into building safe and secure social homes

We’re going to Parliament to make the case for change again. And we’ll be bringing our ground-breaking new research with us. 

You can help by inviting your MP along to get them on board with ending the housing emergency. We know MPs will be more likely to attend if the invite comes from their constituent.

  What is the event?

  The event will be a breakfast reception held in Parliament hosted by us to tell MPs about the shocking findings in our brand-new temporary accommodation report. The research reveals that tens of thousands of people are living in dangerous, slum-like conditions.

  All MPs in attendance will receive a copy of the report as well as hearing from a panel of speakers about the research. It will be held on 9 March.

  Is the event open to the public?

  Unfortunately, no, this event is for MPs but we will be joined by people with lived experience of temporary accommodation who helped to produce the research we’ll be sharing.

  What if my MP has already RSVP’d or is hosting the event?

  If your MP has already RSVP’d to our event or is hosting it, they’ll get a different message. This will include information about how they can convince the Chancellor to use the Spring Budget to end the housing emergency.

  Why does your MP need to know about this?

  Our new report reveals just how detrimental living in temporary accommodation can be on people’s health. Including children.

  It’s important we can get as many MPs as possible along to the event to hear about these shocking findings. And, crucially, what they can do about it ahead of the Spring budget.
